Summer Young Adult Workshop

The Waverly Opera House, Ltd., is pleased to announce a special summer theatre program for Twin Tiers high school and college students.  The July production of “Arsenic and Old Lace” will be a free workshop for young adults in all areas of theater, including acting, directing, stage managing, lighting, sound, set design and construction, publicity, programs, costuming and more.  All aspects will be overseen and taught by veteran Opera House actors, directors, designers and publicists.

The Arsenic Project will kick off on Saturday, June 7, with auditions from 2 to 5 p.m. at the theater, 324 Broad St., Waverly.   Callbacks will be Monday evening at 7, if necessary.  Students interested in any aspect of the project should come to the Opera House at that time to fill out information forms, and, if they are under 18, to pick up a permission form.

The Arsenic Project is presented at no cost and the play itself will be directed by Belinda Snodgrass, Northeast Bradford High School's art and drama teacher.  The entire project will be under the supervision and direction of Waverly Opera House, Ltd., president and artistic director, Michael Arcesi, and Opera House owner/designer, Ronald Nogar.

The Arsenic Project's daily scheduling will vary to accommodate students’ summer schedules and job hours.  There will be some day rehearsals once all area schools have closed for the summer.

“Arsenic and Old Lace,” a classic comedy, will open in mid-July and run three weekends with nine performances.  Interested students who cannot attend the Saturday, June 7th, audition should email information@waverlyoperahouse.org.
